The Atomic Bomb race happened a few weeks ago in Los Alamos, New Mexico as part of the Southwest Series. Everyone who raced it regarded the track as fast, technical and scary. Local New Mexico ripper Phil Ginn suffered a bad crash and sent us some pics along with a testimonial. Thanks Phil and keep on shredding!
Probably about time to retire that lid.
In Phil’s words
“I got my money’s worth out of my predator helmet on day two of The Atomic Bomb on my first run. I was holding a good line on the big right (Nautalus) and someone tried to pass me on the inside but didn’t hold his line. He knocked into my rear wheels, spinning my board 90 degrees so I basically caught my heel-side edge. I’m not sure but I think the back of my head was the first thing to make contact with the road. I heard a really loud cracking crashing sound and a continuing crashing sound all around me (ending up with the face of my helmet dragging on the ground). It took me a whole minute to get up off the ground, I got assessed for any injuries then finished my run. At the bottom my vision started to get a little blurry and and I had bright spots in my vision (seeing stars?) I took the precautions as if I had a concussion (no alchohol and stayed awake) but I was fine! At first I was bummed that my Predator helmet was damaged and I’d need to replace it, but someone reminded me that that’s what it’s designed to do. Thank you, Predator for selling me a quality helmet that did its job and saved my life. ”
